Early August, 2008: A few days ago water levels dropped and dry fly fishing began in earnest. We're seeing Green Drakes and Red Quills as well as caddis. The fish are also eating ants, RSIIs, stimulators and other larger fly patterns. |

Ed, from Florida, hooked his first trout on a fly rod early in the morning. It just happened to be this lovely, bright Brook Trout!
| Kevin and Ed has fits and starts with holding this big trout. It was Ed's second on a fly rod, hooked, played and landed a few minutes after his first, see above. Note that both men are close to the water, so the fish fell into the water, not onto the ground. |

A moment later, and after the fish was again netted, Ed gently cradles his lovely rainbow trout for a picture. The fish was then revived while safe in the net, and released for future fly fishing fun.
| Kevin's smile is earned. It took him a little longer to land a trout, but this shiny rainbow took the first dry fly Kevin cast upstream! He expertly set the hook, and then played and landed the fish. |

Now an old pro, Kevin later hooked and landed this lovely cutthroat on a small nymph.

Kevin and Ed were part of a larger group enjoying a day of fly fishing before a meeting. Neither man had fly fished before, but we're pretty sure they'll enjoy doing it again. Water and fishing conditions are ideal at both Boxwood and Long Meadow. Groups of two to ten anglers are invited to join us, away from phones and noise, for a great day of relaxing enjoyment! Call soon to arrange your trip. Phone 303-838-0724 ~or~ 303-915-1753 cell We're probably fishing, so please, leave a message! |

June 2, 2008: Spring was slow arriving this year, but the fishing has been great! Here are a few pictures from the May 31/June 1 weekend at Boxwood. Trout were taking a variety of nymphs as well as streamers, wet flies and a few dries. Water is murky in the morning from the previous day's runoff, but the fishing is very good. As the water clears, fish become a little more selective, but still like eating and getting fat.
