June is a high water month. Both run-off and irrigation demands downstream contribute to higher flows in the summer months. From the end of May and for a couple of weeks in June the water can be fairly off-colored. It can be a great opportunity to land some of the biggest fish in the river - fish that would otherwise be difficult to approach in clear low-water conditions.

As the water begins to clear in mid-June, we hunt for fish along the edges. Big dries and bead head nymphs are the answer. Turk's Tarantula, Chernobyl Ants, Prince Nymphs and Halfbacks will not be turned down.
