Trip Reports

Many species of caddis are now coming off on a regular basis. We see a few BWO's in the spring months, but our best hatches are in the fall. An Elk Hair Caddis or a small Stimulator will do the trick. On the days when the water is a little off-color Bead head nymphs produce fish.

We start to get some run-off on the warmest days, but the heavy water doesn't usually show up until about the third week of May. The first two- to three weeks of heavy run-off usually produce the biggest, mostest, easiest fish of the season. The water is dirty. You won't be able to see most of the fish, but your guide will know where to find them. BIG FISH< ON BIG FLIES, ON HEAVY TIPPET!!!

You don't need to count very far to rig up. 1, 2 and 3X tippet! A 4-weight rod will bend down to the tip of your toes. A 5-weight is barely adequate. Bring a 6-weight, or try one of our new Temple Fork saltwater rods.
