Trip Reports

You will not be allowed to use a bright orange, fluffy yarn strike detector in September!! The elk are bugling and it may even scare a bull in full rut!! By now the river is usually fairly low and offers some of the finest dry fly fishing that you could find anywhere on the planet. The water is clear and the fish are becoming spooky. Only the stealthiest approach and precise casting and drifts will produce fish. The LARGEST fish in the river are caught on DRIES in September. the water has gone down and receded from the banks. The fish are out in the open and are accessible.

Everyone should experience this. The flies are small and require some skill to fish. Show up with some talent or we can teach you. We offer the finest on-stream casting and fishing instruction available. We conduct many schools and classes throughout the year. The knowledge and skills learned will help you enjoy the sport of fly fishing for a lifetime.
